On Saturday evening, we celebrated Chris' and Mimi's birthday in Little Ethiopia.

Here's glowing Mimi!

And sideways Meazi :)
Jordan just loves her.
And loves watching Ethiopian dance.

Art Project and Strawberry Crop

Here is one of the art projects from a few weekends ago. Mama and I painted the tea set we bought at a yard sale for $5 and then baked them in the oven so they are shiny. I love playing with them, but need to keep them away from Jordan because he will break them!

We have been picking strawberries from my 2 strawberry bushes at least twice a week. This is a recent picking. Not bad?

Our new mid-week spot for some summer fun is going to Mother's Beach park to play and then going to Cheesecake Factory for dinner afterward. We went with Merrick last week!

One Year Doctor Visit

The update is that Jordan got shorter and fatter since he went to Dr. H at 10 months old. He is now in the 60th percentile for weight (23 lbs +) and in the 45th percentile for height 29 3/4 inches. Gigi was about 2 lbs lighter and 3/4 inch taller when she was one.

Jordan DID not like going to the doctor. He started crying before he was even being checked on. He is very aware of what happens there and would rather be somewhere else. Too bad we can't use the lollipop as a bribe....yet.

We love and miss you, Mema

Last Friday, Mama told me that Mema's body stopped working. I knew that it wasn't working well, but that didn't matter to me. I loved spending time with her. Over the last year, we went to visit Mema and Pepa in Florida five times. Jordan is getting to be an expert flier and has more miles than most 1 year olds. During our visits, I watched some shows with Mema, went out to restaurants, went to the pool, hugged her and rested with her in bed. I love Mema forever.

From Mama....We will all miss Mema deeply. She had a love for Gigi and Jordan that many people only wish they had from a grandmother. I will always think of Mema when I post updates to the blog because although we started the blog as a way to provide Gigi (and later, Jordan) a way to look back at their lives when they are older, it became a way to let our family into our day to day given that they all live so far away. Mema would check the blog many times a day to see the same picture or to see if new pictures have been posted. When too much time passed, I would get a gentle reminder that she would love to see more pictures. Once we became Skype experts, the need to see the pictures was less because we were able to visit almost live via Skype. Rest in peace, Mema. We love you.

Beach!

Something about that beach air! Gigi has been sleeping since 4 pm!!

And, Jordan. He is in love with his Daddy. Gigi always preferred me at this age, but not Jordan. He is reaching for him.....and wants his comfort when he is tired.

Peaches and Apricots

Jordan's new thing is to eat peaches and apricots whole. While Mama was in NY on business, someone bought a huge vat of peaches (Costco?) and every time he sees them, he reaches for it. Could be before breakfast, middle of the day, probably even middle of the night if he was going by.

The funniest part of this habit is that if you give him a napkin he holds the peach in one hand, the napkin in the other and he wipes his face every 2nd or 3rd bite. It is quite messy and Mama is complaining that peach does not come out of clothes. I guess Shout doesn't live up to its words.
Yum!
