Lamar Odom is Walking to Africa!
Okay, for those non-Laker fans or non-sports fans, you probably have no idea who he is. But, I just learned that he is Walking to Africa with me in a few weeks. I have been so busy that I haven't had the chance to practice much, but I still think I can make the 2 miles. One way or the other, we will do it together.

I am committed.....to the ocean and to walking!
So, tonight when Mommy came home, I put on my jacket and my shoes and gave Mommy her shoes and I was on a mission. The mission tonight was to go to the "ocean" or "water". I tried to get Mommy, Daddy and Grandma to take me this morning, but no takers. Tonight, Mommy took me and Daddy came driving behind with the extra set of clothes and a bottle of vino. What fun! (Mommy thinks that now that I have discovered "Mother's Beach" where the waves are non-existent, she and Daddy may need to take me every day. Shhh....don't tell her, but she is RIGHT!)
Also, a few nights ago, AFTER bathtime, I put on my jacket, asked Mommy to zip it, put on my shoes, gave Mommy her shoes and Grandma her shoes and off we went....not just walking, but RUNNING. I walked/ran for at least 3/4 of a mile. I am ready. Walk to Africa here I come. And, Uncle Steve, I am going to go stroller-less and walk the 2 miles with all the others. I think I can do it. I may even bring my baby in her stroller. I think she might have fun.
So, I am officially signed up and ready to go.

Walk to Africa
Today, my Daddy went to the Dogromat to "wash" Mystic and Camille. Since the Dogromat was closed, he went to another mutt washing place on Lincoln called Barks and Bubbles. While there, Dr. Hamilton (my pediatrician) walked in to pass out some fliers about a "Walk to Africa" scheduled for next month. Dr. Hamilton is behind Lighthouse Medical Missions (www.lighthousemedicalmissions.com) which has been providing medical care to people in Africa since 1998. He has personally led missions several times, including at least once since I was born. He has an incredible heart which is why I am glad he is my doctor.
The Walk to Africa (www.walktoafrica.com) is taking place in Santa Monica and Mommy and I are going to participate. There is the "Adult Walk" (8 miles) or the "Children's Walk"(2 miles). I am thinking that I am good for 8 miles, but we are still deciding whether we should just go as children instead of adults. Dr. Hamilton and his team are hoping to have 1,000 people raise $100 each so that we can "walk the 8,000 miles to Africa" in one day. Mama and I are going to do our part. What's funny is Mama was just talking to Aunt Barbara this morning about walking the Breast Cancer 3 Day this morning, maybe next year again. Mama last did the walk in 2002 (and in 1999 before that). I guess instead of 60 miles, we will start with 8 (or maybe 2). Have to start somewhere, no?
