More School Fun

Gigi was lucky to have a neighbor in her class this year....until they decided to move (not too far away, but not close enough to throw a rock in their yard over the alley).  We had a nice barbecue before they packed it up for PV.  We will miss them!

Almost every morning, we get to school a little early for some milk, a little time on the monkey bars or library time.  This week was Heritage Day and Gigi dressed in her "German girl" costume....Heidi?

This week, when I volunteered, the Rainbow Cafe became the Spooky Cafe.  I was in the Math area where the kids were decorating their math books Halloween style.

The Spooky Cafe...

Local Pumpkin Patch

For the last two years, we have been going to the local "urban" pumpkin patch.  Jordan went with school to the farm and we plan another trip to the farm before Halloween with the whole family.

The local patch is a lot of fun on a Sunday morning.

There is a train, pony rides, electric animal rides, art and more.

Kindergarten has been going great for Gigi.  Parents can volunteer for the last hour of the day and Ms. P prefer 3 parents per day.  I have volunteered a few times.  They have 4 centers - Math, Art, the Cafe and one other.  Above and below are pictures from "The Rainbow Cafe".  The children in this center take orders of up to 2 items from their classmates and then add the cost of the two items.  They deliver the items and take money.  It is a fun way to learn math and work together.

Jordan answering the shofar at home.  He has been into the "pone", mostly to watch his favorite show "Fireman Sam".

Our first rainy day in LA.

Jordan is still loving school, coming home very dirty every day.

And bubbles at home.  Can't get better than that.

Gigi made this for Grace.

Gigi is learning to skateboard.  Jordan wants to do it, too!

Jordan Starts Preschool!

This week, Jordan started preschool 3 mornings/week.  Pepa was here to see him off on his first day.

After dropping Gigi off at school, we went to school and Jordan called Daddy to have a chat.

His first stop was the kitchen but we then went outside where we started every morning.....at the playhouse for "breakfast".

Gigi looks very pensive on his second day

Dropping Gigi off...

And, saying hello to "Piggie" the guinea pig on arrival.

Making mama some waffles with mustard and a banana and corn.  Yellow food is in today.

Jordan also hammered golf tees into styrofoam.  All in all, he had a great first week.  He easily said bye and hugged Mama two out of three days.  He was so tired on his second day that he fell asleep at the lunch table.  He is loving school just as much as Gigi.

We love our NannyG

We had a day off from school this week and NannyG helped me and my friend make homemade play-doh.  We mixed it up and added food coloring.

When it was time for lunch, nothing else than Mickey peanut butter sandwich.

And, on Saturday, I was on the porch while Mama gardened, playing with my "Play-Doh".

Peace, Love and a little Wonder Woman and Batman

Gigi's 5th birthday party theme went from Horseland to My Little Pony to Peace and Love.  It landed on Peace and Love until 8 days before the party when Allen thought that Wonder Woman should come.  After all, Gigi loves her and she is going to be Super Girl or is it Bat Girl for Halloween?

Of course, in LA, anything is possible.  But the only company who still had WW available required that another super hero accompany her so we chose Batman.

So, the cake and other party favors still were peace-y and love-y.

And, as per usual, the kids started out the party playing with the lemonade stand and other toys.

"Hello?"

And then a little over an hour in, Wonder Woman arrived with her cohort.

Gigi was excited and surprised.  But then realized that a really scary, masked man with a cape was in her house.

And she cozied up to Grandma as WW and BM started to get the guests ready for super hero training.

And the training began!

Soon, Gigi was not hiding behind grandma or clutching onto her leg, but she was fully engaged in learning to become a super hero.

After the training was over and everyone took the oath, the superheroes set out to find hidden treasure.

WW spotted it in the neighbor's yard.

Everyone agreed that WW should go retrieve it in case there was something tricky about it.

Only Gigi, with her super powers from being the birthday girl, had the ability to open up the treasure to share the loot with her friends.
