Eliza ...(by Mama)

This morning, Gigi was making letters with Play-Doh. First, she made a J for Jordan, then an M for Mama and then a D for Daddy. She picked up the letter E and asked "Who begins with this letter?" She didn't know it was an E and didn't know that her baby sister begins with E. Was this random? Or, did her subconscious somehow know?
When I came home from work, Gigi told me that she wanted to make a picture for her baby sister. She went into the other room and shortly after, our friend came over and she sat on his lap while she started to draw. Allen and I were in the kitchen. She came running into the kitchen and asked if "Eliza likes scribbles?" She then told me that "Eliza wants to grow up to be just like you." She went back to drawing on M's lap....and then came running back into the kitchen to ask how Eliza is spelled because she wanted to write her name on the picture. After she was done drawing, she showed me her picture and said "This is my baby sister growing up". And later, she said "my baby sister is going to love this picture".
Gigi is clearly struggling with the loss of Eliza (as am I and probably always will). On the one hand, it is beautiful that she isn't forgetting her and not allowing me to (not that I could). Her innocence in all of her questions yesterday....of course, I was all in my head wondering where Gigi thinks Eliza is....does she think she is going to come back even though I told her she will not come back.
Gigi has mentioned Eliza up to 3 times per week in recent weeks. I love how important her baby sister is to her. And, yet it makes me so sad that she will never really know her other than through her imagination.
On a related note, someone very important to us thinks that there is something about the number 2. We found out on October 22nd that we were having 2 babies....and then Jordan and Eliza were born on June 22nd. Yesterday was 2/2/2011. Maybe there is something to it.

This morning...

after a week home from school recovering with Jordan from sickness, Gigi took two blankets to school for naptime.....one was Eliza's and one was Jordan's (her words). Sigh.

Friday Morning Farmers Market

On Friday morning, Mama took me to the Farmers Market before she went off to work. We bumped into Zoe (and Lucy!) It was so great to see them since we have been quarantined with Jordan and my sickness.

Gigi Says the Darndest Things

Gigi, looking at Mama's 2 phones (personal and business cell phone): Is one for calling and one for messages?

AND

In the shower this morning, Mama asked Gigi if she wanted to shower with her sometime. Gigi's response "Yes, when I am a grownup".

Martin Luther King

Gigi to Mama (while Mama was watching an MLK video posted by our friend, Julie): What are you watching?

Mama: A video about Martin Luther King. (more conversation about who MLK is)

Gigi: Oh, does he have a bus? I know Martin Luther King. Peter talked about him. (Peter is a music teacher who comes to Gigi's preschool).

After the video was over, "Can we watch it again?" (and then, after it was over again, "Can we watch it again"...and then after it was over, "can we find another video about Martin Luther King?"...

Love this girl and love her school, too!

Swimming at Mema and Pepa's

This morning, we went to the pool...in my Hello Kitty bathing suit.

I swam and Jordan soaked his toes in the water.

Real Hot Chocolate

Last weekend, Daddy was reading me the Dora book "Chilly Day".  The story is about finding their way to the chocolate tree so Dora's Abuela could make her a special chilly day surprise -- hot chocolate. After we were done with the book, Daddy made me hot chocolate.  Yum!

Just a handful of pictures (by Mama)

Mama here. Up at 1 am. Listening to Gigi breathe heavy. She has had a fever for more than 24 hours which is not her usual. Poor girl. Finally, some new pictures. My in-house technology consultant has informed me that with Picassa, I will be able to post pictures faster and easier than ever. I used a workaround suggested by a friend, but am ready for the upload of many pictures with one click.
And, this is why Gigi shouldn't be going to the grocery store (or ANY store for that matter) with Daddy. Can you say "wrapped around finger"? She brought this "thing" home from the specialty food store Allen goes to....same store that produced a Hello Kitty tin with a cake in it that we "needed"...it is still in the pantry, cake uneaten. The "thing" below is filled with fruit jellos or something like that. I don't think Gigi really likes them, though the picture tells a different story. She just likes the container which becomes a bank when they are all gone. Maybe I can make them magically disappear?
We have a picture of Gigi with this same cat when she was not even 1 year old. I should dig it out. Very friendly cat.

Melese....what a sweetheart and beauty. He celebrated his 2nd birthday last week and we had a blast at the party. Check out the amazing cake made by his Dad. Now, that is LOVE.

And, last weekend, we hired a new cleaning crew. They did an amazing job!
